I’ve tried quite a few. Currently have the TD-3 and TB-03, but use the Boutique most as it has midi cc’s. I think the TD-3 sounds better though, especially the accent!

I realised I left the new Roland T-8 off this list which, having used side by side with the T-8, I actually think sounds more authentic. The accent behaviour seems improved. It also responds to PCM messages to change patterns in sync with your other gear which I don’t think any other TB-303 clones can do? It doesn’t respond to midi CC’s though, like the TB-03. Hopefully they’ll add that then it’ll be perfect.

Minimoog vs Moog One – Starsky Carr has posted a video comparing bass patches on the Moog One with the Minimoog. I know there’s alot of talk about it not being great for bass, but I actually think it sounds pretty good.

Nice comparison. It’s difficult to tell from the YouTube videos but they both seem to have a nice low end.

This looks powerful and sounds fantastic! It’s not cheap though when compared to other similar size synths. It’s roughly around twice the price of the Novation Summit and Hydra Synth Deluxe.

Good Idea! I usually just find out about stuff if it appears in my YouTube feed but sometimes I discover the firmware for my synth was updated 6 months back and I had no idea! I guess I could be a bit more on the ball, subscribe to newsletter etc.

Roland recently updated the MC-101 and MC-707 with the ability to save and load “clips” containing both sound and sequencer data. This is my first pack of free clips for the MC-101 / MC-707. It includes 32 basses and leads inspired by the Roland SH-101. Enjoy!

Not yet, it’s still up for sale. I just took it out the box to make these clips. I’m thinking of swapping it for an MC-101 now they added the partial editing. I mainly use the Syntakt as the centre of my setup these days so I’m thinking the smaller MC would pair quite nicely.

This guy has recreated the SID chiptune soundtrack from the 1985 C64 “Commando” game on the Elektron Syntakt. I’m guessing he used the SY Bits machine which is perfect for this kind of stuff, especially since they added Portamento.
