A week ago, I adopted a rescued 4-5 month old kitten who I named Bella. She’s good at creating drones, so I created this “improv jam” video while she lied down on my MODX keyboard. Well, I use the term “improv jam” loosely since it’s clumsy at best, but then I was doing it one handed while I held my phone to shoot the video. 😂

She lied down on the keys while i was playing around. She actually changed the patch on the MODX to the one that controls my OB-6 before she lied on the keys so that’s what’s making the drone.

Can a SYNTAKT sound like a 303? Excellent video by Captain Pikant showing how to program authentic acid basslines on the Elektron Syntakt. I’m going to give this a go tonight! 😀

I’d been doing acidic basslines using just Legato, I didn’t think you needed to set Portamento too. Could be why my efforts on the Syntakt didn’t sound too authentic 🤔

I had a go tonight and, even though adding slides with Portamento and Legato do make it sound very acidic, it’s very difficult to make it sound like a real TB-303. The main problem is that in order to add accents you have to p-lock them, which means when you adjust the filter it affects the whole pattern except the p-locked trigs. Otherwise, it works really well. But if you want real acid you’re better off adding a cheap TD-3 or something.

Yes it’s a great tutorial. The Syntakt is capable of creating really nice acid lines. I couldn’t quite get there before.

Yeah, great jam. 🙂 And how is the sound with the iLoud-Speaker? IKMultimedia says: “The sound quality and fidelity of iLoud will absolutely blow you away”. Would you agree with this?

The iLoud has excellent sound quality and a really low frequency range so you can hear sub bass frequencies. I would definately agree that it is a studio quality monitor. However, while It’s great for general studio use, sound design and just general jamming, the stereo field is very small (due to cones being close together) so you couldn’t mix with it. For that I tend to use headphones.

Thanks for the review. Yeah, that’s really annoying that so many devices don’t allow easy battery replacement.
