I’ve created a template (backup/restore file) that will make the SH-4d behave more like a groovebox when saving Patterns.
For the first 32 patterns, I’ve saved (and pre-mapped) an INIT preset for each Tone Part 1-4, as well as a default TR-909 Rhythm Kit.
You can now select a pattern (01-32), create your synth and drum parts, and then save the Pattern (using OVERWRITE) and, if you’re designing your own sounds while creating patterns, there’s now no need to rename everything as I’ve already done it for you!

Alex, I can’t help to ask… what are you using as an editor/librarian for the .svd file? I understand that this is a file format that Roland uses for some of their synths – I couldn’t see any librarian/editor for the SH-4D … would be nice if we see one in the future… anyhow, just curious…

I didn’t use an editor, I created and renamed everything on the SH-4d and exported a backup. Didn’t take too long once I got into the flow.

Bit late to the party, but anyway.. I just registered just to say ‘Thank you!’ for this. It’s exactly the same method I have been using manually for each new project until now. This is a huge time saver.

Sounds good. Seems odd it doesn’t have battery power though, as it seems to be competing with the Volca’s and Roland Compacts.

I received mine yesterday and noticed they’ve just released a firmware update to address some of the early user feedback including the sound of the wavetables/oscillators.

I actually thought it already sounded pretty good, but nice to have more oscillator options. I wish Roland were this quick to add new features to the SH-4d.

UNO Synth Pro X has been announced!
Paraphonic digitally controlled analog synth with 3 variable waveshape oscillators, 2 analog filters (with 2/4 pole, LP/HP), 2 LFOs, 3 envelopes, Modulation Matrix (16 slots), 3 effects slots with choice of 10 effects (5 delays, 2 modulation FX, 3 reverbs), 64 step sequencer, and an arpeggiator. 256 available preset slots.
Loads of videos on YouTube from all the usual channels, but thought this one showed the sound off particularly well.

Isn’t pretty much the same synth engine as the UNO Synth Pro but double the price? More knobs but still shared controls for the oscillators, envelopes and LFOs so not sure what you’re really gaining.

Agreed. I just watched the official IK Multimedia video and it’s basically the same synth with a different skin. There are some improvements though, like AC power and USB-C but nothing that would justified more than double the price. I reckon the price will come down though in a few months.

It looks like a much better layout than the pro desktop (more hands on) but there’s no way I’d pay that price for it. Best to wait until it’s on sale or get one second hand.
